Our commitment: Likewise has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). We actively work to detect, remove, and report any such content or behavior on our platform, and we cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities.
Introduction
Likewise (published by Likewise on Google Play, package name: in.likewise.app) is a social networking app designed for users aged 13 and older. The app is not intended for or directed at children under 13.
We are committed to maintaining a safe environment for all users, with particular emphasis on protecting minors from exploitation, abuse, and harmful interactions. These Child Safety Standards outline our policies, procedures, and safeguards in compliance with Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy.
Prohibition of CSAE Content and Behavior
Likewise strictly prohibits any content or behavior that facilitates, promotes, or tolerates child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This includes, but is not limited to:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) — any visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct
- Grooming — communications targeting minors for exploitative or abusive purposes
- Sextortion of minors — coercing minors into producing sexual content through threats or manipulation
- Child trafficking — any content or behavior facilitating the trafficking of minors
- Sexualization of minors — any content that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits children
- Facilitating CSAE — any behavior, communication, or feature misuse that enables or encourages any form of child exploitation
Violations of these prohibitions result in immediate account termination and referral to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
Content Moderation and Enforcement
Likewise employs the following moderation measures to prevent and address CSAE:
- Admin review panel — all user-generated video content (Waves) undergoes admin review before being published to the platform
- Report review queue — all user reports are reviewed by our moderation team with child safety reports receiving the highest priority
- Account enforcement — upon confirmation of CSAE-related violations, we take immediate action including content removal, account suspension, and permanent account termination
- Proactive monitoring — we monitor platform activity for patterns indicative of exploitation or abuse
In-App Reporting Mechanism
Users can report CSAE or any suspicious behavior directly within the Likewise app without leaving the platform:
- Report button on user profiles — tap the report option on any user's profile to flag concerning behavior
- Report in messages — report suspicious or harmful messages directly from the chat
- Report a Problem — accessible from Settings, allows users to describe any safety concern including child safety issues
- Block functionality — users can immediately block any account to prevent further contact
All reports related to child safety are treated with the highest priority and reviewed as quickly as possible.
CSAM Response and Legal Compliance
Upon actual knowledge of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on our platform, Likewise will:
- Immediately remove the offending content from the platform
- Disable the offending account to prevent further activity
- Preserve evidence as required by applicable law
- Report to NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) via the CyberTipline, as required by U.S. federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A)
- Report to local authorities — in India, report to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and relevant law enforcement agencies as required under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012
- Cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations
We comply with all applicable child safety laws and regulations in the jurisdictions where we operate, including but not limited to the POCSO Act (India), the IT Act 2000 (India), and relevant international child protection frameworks.
